"The Last Of Us" Movie

My favorite part of Intro to Film and Video is discussion. In the past, we have seen the gaming industry suffer (as the comic industry once did) in the attempt to produce a great live-action film. I belive those dark times are coming to an end. Why? Because they finally choose the right film for it, a game which has all the qualities of not only a smash hit, but a true epic to be remembered. That game is "The Last of Us".  Anyone whose played the game (or watched a let's play) understands that this is an ingenious choice to carry this out this task. Below I will list the reason why.

PLOT
The game takes the form of a survival-adventure game with zombie-like creatures, murderous humans, and the quest to find a cure. But what sets this game apart from the modern day zombie horror game is it's focus on storytelling (Again, anyone whose played this game can argue the story is nothing short of perfection) and the emotinal impact the game leaves on us. The game focuses around Joel, a man who, after losing his daughter almost 20 years ago, lives in a world filled with hopelessness, a dystopian society ruled by the military, and in an attempt to get back weapons which were meant for a trade, gets roped in by the leader of a dyining rebbelion group called the Fireflys to escort what very well could be the cure to the fatal disease, a 14 year-old girl named Ellie. What follows is a cross-country adventure through infeasted territory, and groups of savage humans, willing to do anything to survive. In the game we are forced to make life or death decicions meant to leave us laying awake at night, and the bonding experience between the two characters. The game is very cinematic, so there should be no worry of how the movie should look. The only real problems are length (as with any game-movie adaptation), and casting the right people. Other then that, it should prove difficult to find a way to screw this one up, in short this one is a "gimme".
